umdertoecho: they told a BIG lie and they shun you.
freddo: so many brothers gave up good jobs, homes and common sense.
i was straddling the fence on that one, just in case they were right.
i don't recall.
telling anyone this is your last chance.

william: I can understand those of you who were young at the time, your parents or
older men in the congregation wouldn't lie to you, right.
blondie: That's is what my mom kept telling my sister. LOL

it worked out good for me.

I was straddling the fence on that one, just in case they were right. I don't recall
telling anyone this is your last chance. My sister went to my mom and told her, you
have one year to become a JW. My ex- told her folks the same thing. I guess Jehovahs
spirit wasn't working on me, because I still had some doubts. Thankful no one has ever
told me, didn't you tell me back in 1974 we wouldn't be here today.
You think one would be embarrassed, credibility down the tube.
just wanted to post here real quick, as many have joked about it.
we had an announcement in our cong last week about the upcoming one day assembly.
the title of the assembly is "imitate jehovah".
Someone else's journey(especially Jehovah) may not always be applicable to yours
because we each have different circumstances, resource and strengths. Furthermore
in an ever dynamic world, conditions are seldom identical for two people.
We know the bible don't accurately document Jehovah's ways, at one point he is
out of control (OT) and then in the NT he tell us to love our enemies. So which of
the two are we suppose to imitate.
within the past couple of days, women in nyc are going around topless in public.
i read in a news article, that in new york city, there are no laws against women going topless in public.the article says that family people are getting offended and they want to stop topless women in public.
in europe women show their breasts on on tv, the beach, and breast feeding in public.
Think about it, in the 50's you were lucky to see a woman thigh, the
70's the mini-skirts , when was the last time you went to the beach.
Holy sh--t there is nothing left to the imagination. Some folks believe there
will be mass rapes of women..LOL
there is this jw husband and wife i knew from the 80's when i was a child.
they got a divorce a few years ago and never remarried.
they are older now and unable to afford to live on their own.
The wife and I divorced over a year, she came to my job to see if we could work it out.
We gave it a try, she sneaking around visiting my place because I was DF.
One night I'm visiting her, our four kids not home. My oldest daughter
came home while we were sitting talking in the kitchen, she screamed "dad what
are you doing here, you know you shouldn't be here with mom alone". I was
speechless and very upset, the wife didn't say anything. I walked out and never
returned. A year later she married a brother(elder) who she had spent nights at his place.
That one daughter, I haven't seen or talk to her in 13-16 years, a year ago she divorced
and will remarry this November. It's funny how life works, she have two girls and he have 4
kids, three boys and a daughter.
having just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.
and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.
many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.
The last time my ex-brother-law elder visit me, he looked beaten.
He's 78 and failing health, we were very close. So he ask what are you doing
with the knowledge that you have gain from the Bible, I can see you are know
your bible. Why not come back. It's been 28 years since I left and no way will I return,
life have been good for me. I told him I have learned to play the guitar, golf, met some
fine folks in the mean time, a great life. His response, I always wanted to learn to play the guitar.
His goal in the borg was to become CO or DO, to bad because he was removed as a elder
twice for abusing his wife (my sister). He would have made a great GB member...
ok this is story1.annointed bro moves into a house and rents room from a lady.
2.he is currently serving as elder.3.there happens to be a disfellowsipped brother also living in house.4.
the annointed elder decides to help him to return to jehovah.5 the other elders find out and decide to remove him as elder because he is living and helping a df person and the annointed bro cannot move out because he does not have enough money.
another thing that has bothered me-.
if the righteous and the unrighteous will be resurrected, and will have the same chance at paradise as the hard-core dubs, what was the point of being hard core?
i know the point used to be "well, armageddon is gonna happen this weekend, and you'll survive and they won't!
The hard core JW's will Lord over the new arrivals. They will be walking around
telling folks, I told you so now get down on your knees and thank me you unrighteous one.
Afterwards go and clean up all the sh--t here on earth.
